The Supreme Court of the United States today adopted a revised version of the Rules of the Court. The revised version will take effect on May 2, 2005. The revisions to the Rules include a change to Rule 13.3 designed to clarify the time for filing a petition for a writ of certiorari in light of the Court’s decision in Hibbs v. Winn, 542 U.S. ___ (2004). In addition, the Court approved changes to Rule 47 to comport with changes in federal law that have altered the relationship between the Court and the Courts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. Copies of the revised Rules are available from the Clerk's Office, the Court's website, various legal publishers, and other organizations. The attached document describes which Rules were revised. The Clerk's Comments are not part of the Rules, but are furnished to assist readers in understanding the changes.
