Earlier today, Samuel A. Alito, Jr., was sworn in as the 110th Justice of the Supreme Court in a private ceremony attended by members of the Supreme Court. Chief Justice Roberts administered the Constitutional and Judicial Oaths at the Supreme Court in the Justices' Conference Room. Both oaths were administered so that Justice Alito could begin to participate in the work of the Court immediately.

A formal investiture ceremony will take place at a special sitting of the Court in the Courtroom at a later date.

Further details regarding the ceremony and other opportunities for coverage will be provided as they become available.
